Photography as a Daily Practice is a 3-week workshop focused on slowing down, noticing intentionally, and building a personal photographic voice. This class is completely non-technical and non-camera-based in the room — all image-making happens outside class through simple weekly prompts. All cameras welcome (including phones).

During class, we explore:

  • how to see instead of simply look

  • how photographers throughout history have approached quiet observation

  • how subtle moments carry mood and meaning

  • image editing, refining, and sequencing

Students leave with:

  • a clearer photographic voice

  • stronger instincts for composition

  • learn about well known photographers’ practice

  • confidence in observing everyday life

  • a refined set 10 - 15 (5×7) prints

Session 1: Showing Up

This session is about building a daily photography practice that actually fits into your life. We’ll talk about showing up without pressure, perfection, or productivity goals, using the work and practices of photographers who have shared how they return to making again and again. You’ll leave with simple prompts and structures to help you keep coming back to your camera.

Session 2: Staying With the Images

Here we slow things down and spend time with the images themselves. We’ll look at recent work alongside photographers who use editing, sequencing, and repetition as part of their practice, noticing patterns and quiet shifts that emerge over time. This session treats editing as a way of understanding your work—not fixing it.

Session 3: Sustaining the Practice

The final session focuses on what happens after the class ends. We’ll look at photographers who have spoken openly about maintaining a long-term practice, and use those references to reflect on writing, intention, and realistic next steps. The goal is clarity, not closure—and leaving with a practice you can actually keep.

About Your Instructor: Diana Vidal, founder + director of SSP

Diana Vidal is a teaching artist and the founder + director of Super Secret Projects. Her classes are hands-on and process-driven, centering experimentation, material exploration, and practical skill-building. She creates learning environments that support curiosity, repetition, and growth across a range of creative approaches.

With over a decade of experience working in studios, galleries, and community-based art spaces, Diana brings a practice-led approach to teaching. Her classes are shaped by real-world experience and focus on clarity, process, and offering artists tools they can return to long after the workshop ends.

Through SSP, Diana is committed to shared learning, accessibility, and building supportive environments where artists can learn from one another, take creative risks, and stay connected to their work.
