On the occasion of the U.S’s 250th anniversary, Art in America complied an alphabetical list of American art movements and themes. There are some unexpected entries and even a couple shout-outs to the Hudson Valley! We will use this article as a jumping off point to discuss drawing inspiration from art history, share what informs our own practices, and perhaps discover new interests.
