Spend an evening experimenting with color, texture, and layers.
Join us for a hands-on introduction to gel printing, an accessible form of monoprinting that makes it easy to create one-of-a-kind images. We’ll begin with a demonstration of the gel plate, brayer, paint, and basic printing process before creating a series of original prints.
Together, we’ll explore color, shape, texture, masks, stencils, and layered compositions. The workshop is relaxed, welcoming, and open to all experience levels; whether you already make art or simply want to try a playful new process.
During the workshop, you’ll:
Learn how to apply paint and pull a clean print from a gel plate.
Experiment with paper masks, stencils, and found textures.
Build layered compositions and create ghost prints.
Leave with a collection of original prints, experimental papers, and your gel printing supplies.
WHAT’S INCLUDED
A 5x7 take-home gel plate and brayer
Acrylic paints and 9x12in sketchbook
Stencils, paper masks, and texture tools
Guided demonstrations and instruction
All workshop supplies to use during class and take home. Nothing is required but feel free to bring magazines or printed matter to use.
