Allegra Jordan

Co-Director + Oil Painter

Information

  • Allegra serves as Co-Director for Super Secret Projects.

Allegra Jordan is a Beacon based oil painter. She was born in and spent her early years in Asia and is now settled in the Hudson Valley. She began painting with oil in 2013, a medium which she felt gave her the means to express free emotion within texture and movement. She became a single mother at age 19, and soon after moved with her son to Beacon to pursue her creative passions within the arts communities. She is a current co-director of Super Secret Projects. Her work focuses on the realities of young parenthood, grief, and maturing during late stage capitalism.

  • “Even This Will Change” by Allegra Jordan is a reflection of her personal journey through a time of significant change and trauma. In just a few short months, she became a young mother and experienced the devastating loss of a parent to suicide. These experiences shook her to her core and left her feeling like she was free-falling, consumed by panic and uncertainty.

Through six pieces, she aims to explore the connection between her past and present, to capture the essence of her own identity within life's changes, and to find a sense of home within herself. She hopes to convey the thread of continuity that remains when life falls apart and begins to piece itself back together.

As she explores the power of vulnerability and the healing that comes with growth, she hopes to give voice to the tender reality of grief and to embrace every change along the way. This is her story, and she hopes that her work resonates with others who may be struggling to find their own sense of continuity and belonging amidst life's many changes.
