Program Details

Many artists find that sustained critique over several weeks helps them see patterns, strengths, and possibilities in their work that are difficult to identify when working alone. This is where Project Critique comes in!

Project Critique: Photographers & Video Artists is a 7-week critique program designed for artists who are actively working on their photography practice, have a specific project or work in progress.

Participants meet weekly in a small group to share work, receive thoughtful feedback, and develop their work through sustained dialogue and readings that give more insight into lens-based work and theory.

This program is designed to support artists working through editing, sequencing, and conceptual direction while building a deeper understanding of their work through critique.

Artists are encouraged to bring work that is still evolving.

The cohort meets once per week for seven weeks in two-hour sessions at the Super Secret Projects gallery.

Week 1
Introductions and work previews. Each artist shares their practice and an overview of the work they plan to work on during the program.

Weeks 2–6
Weekly critique sessions where artists present work and receive feedback from the group.

Week 7
Final presentations and discussion reflecting on the development of the work over the course of the program via a small artist talk / share.

Participants will present work multiple times during the program.

When you click the APPLY button, the application form will appear. You will be asked to provide a portfolio link, a brief bio, and short responses about your work, and what you hope to gain from the program,. You will also select the day and time session that works best for your schedule.

This program is intended for:

• photographers developing a body of work
• video artists working with moving image or still-based projects
• artists seeking thoughtful critique and dialogue around their work over time
• artists who are actively making work and ready to share it with a group

Artists at different stages of their practice are welcome to apply.

By the end of the program, participants will have:

• clearer direction for their work
• feedback from multiple critique sessions
• new insights into editing, sequencing, and conceptual direction
• a group of peers who have engaged with their project over time
